Difference between Kurta and Pathani Kurta

Ever wondered what makes pathani kurta different from a regular kurta ?

Well let’s take a sneak peek into some differences between the two. Kurtas are part of our culture and it is a basic traditional dress of India. Kurtas are of many types like short kurtas, long kurtas, party wear kurtas, plain, pathani, floral, stripes etc. Every Kurta has its own charm and gives you a distinguished personality. Let's take an example: where kurta is known as father and its younger generations are increasing day by day in Market. Lucknow, Hyderabadi, Calcuttawi, Pathani, Chikankari and many other states too have invented their way of stylilng kurta for their state citizens. Now, let's straight away have a look on what makes pathani kurtas different from your regular kurtas.

  • Pathani kurta has its own personality and vibes that separates regular kurtas.
  • A pathani kurta has standing collars and comes with a salwar. On the other hand, normal kurta is paired with straight fit pyjama or churdar pyjama.
  • Generally, pathani kurtas are worn in northern side of India during Muslim festivals (not always though) and normal kurtas are wore all around India on daily basis and that makes pathani kurtas unique.
  • Pathani kurtas have a bit distinguished shape like it's flared while it is straight fitted in Normal kurtas.
  • Pathani kurta has pockets with button and cover on the front side while on a regular kurta, it's located on the left chest. And back side is almost same in both.
  • Apart from this Pathani kurtas can be worn / are generally worn with a folded sleeve.

Should you switch to a pathani kurta?

Definitely yes, if you are bored of the regular kurtas and want to give a try to something new for a distinguished look. Just to clear we don't mean other kurtas are not good. It's just about the look and feel that may push you to sometimes switch to this and get back the other day. Hence, the choice is all yours!

And not to forget if you are looking forward to wear a Nehru jacket outside, then please please don't mess up. It goes better with the regular kurtas and gives you that decent look. Even drop the idea if you are going to carry a coat or blazer with it.
